How To Send Images Through WhatsApp Without Losing The Quality

Wondering how to send images through WhatsApp without losing the quality and size? Losing image quality and size is a common experience with WhatsApp, whether you are sending or receiving photos through the app. If you are a regular WhatsApp user, you must have sent or received images using the app only to discover that the size and quality of the picture has been reduced drastically after sharing it.

This is the default behavior of WhatsApp when you upload an image directly from your image gallery or when you share an image to the app from your image gallery using the “share” option. This happens because WhatsApp automatically optimizes (resizes) the image, thereby compressing the size which eventually results to low quality image after sharing.

If you are wondering if there is another way to send images through WhatsApp Without compromising the quality, then worry no more because this guide is created specifically just for that purpose. All you need to do is just to keep on reading and follow the steps below.

This guide assumes you already have WhatsApp installed on your mobile phone, but if you don’t have it installed, you can simply download and install it from the Google Play Store.

Step 1:

Open WhatsApp and tap on the receiver’s name or phone number. This will open the personal chat page where you send messages, images and other media files.

Step 2:

Go to the message field at the bottom of the chat page as if you want to type a message and click on the attachment icon next to the camera icon. This interaction will open a floating menu as shown below.

Step 3:

On the floating menu shown above, select Document and this will open a default Documents folder as shown below. At the top of folder, click on Browse other docs… or Browse documents. By default, this will open up the default download folder of your phone usually named ‘Dowlnoads’. Hence if the image you want to send is located in this (Downloads) folder, just select it or them if more than one and skip to Step 6 to continue. Otherwise, proceed to the next step.

Step 4:

Click on the top-left burger menu icon located at the top-left of the downloads folder to reveal all folders, storage locations and google drive (if you have one) and media galleries. Next, select Images, if not selected by default. Sometimes, WhatsApp images folder may be selected automatically if it was recently used like this Images >WhatsApp Images for example.

In your case if its not selected, just click on Images link as shown above. If the image is located on your memory card, then select it instead of combing through your entire image folder. The memory card is located on the same panel with the Images folder just below the internal memory of the phone.

Step 5:

Inside the Images folder, navigate to the subfolder where you have the image if it is not in the camera folder. Then, select the image or images if you’re sending more than one at a time. This action will trigger a pop-up card asking if you want to send the selected documents (If you select more than one image), then just click Send. But if you select just one image, you won’t see this massage and as such, it will take you to the next step.

Step 6:

WhatsApp will give you the option of adding a caption (description or title) to the image or images before uploading if you want. Next, hit the Send button or icon to upload selected image as shown below. Note that at this point, there is no means to preview the image you are sending. So make sure the intended image is selected and you know its name if possible. For instance, in this tutorial, I’m sending an image titled “mango logo2.jpg” to a client.

That’s all! Congratulations! Your image will be sent as the original and it won’t be compressed by WhatsApp nor will the image lose any size or quality.

I hope you find this guide useful in sharing your next images through WhatsApp without compromising the size and quality for the sake of quick media upload or saving internet data.
